Free We were out for the usual Saturday morning loop ride yesterday but never made it up the big climb on account of a shredded tire. I followed our leader and instigator on fast flat section of the route and was startled by the loud *POP* of a blowout. I don't know what he ran over, but his rear tire had a serious gash. He booted it with Abe Lincoln (George wasn't available). Although the repair seemed adequate he wasn't going to test it on a mountain descent. So we cut the ride short and headed home. After we said our goodbyes and the group split up, I headed for home. For some reason I decided to break with habit and take an alternate route. That's when I found the *FREE* stuff. I had been needing a new pair of gloves. And that's just what I found... a pair of unused, good quality leather cycling gloves. Score! I also picked up some everyday Corelle dishware (made in USA!) with a pattern that matches nicely with my bike-kitchen. So, serendipity supplied some stuff. Screw in Tire - July 2009 0730b A closer view. I picked up a couple of sheetrock screws in my tire out on the Oregon coast. The local Les Schwab dealer did the repair for free. I had only noticed the one at right but when they repaired the tire they noted that the one at lower left had also punctured through. What are the odds that not one, but two sheetrock screws will be perfectly vertical and straight through the tread groove? Hmmm.
